Lesson 0001

Pass ITIL Foundation by routing traps

You already scored 28/40 on Sample Paper 1. The goal is not “learn ITIL from scratch”; it is to turn borderline pass into safe pass by recognizing the exam’s trap categories.

Your exam target

The official exam is 40 multiple-choice questions, 60 minutes, closed book, with a 65% pass mark. That means 26/40 passes, but your training target is 32/40+ before booking.

The move: route before answering

Step 1

Name the bucket

Is the question about a definition, a guiding principle, a value chain activity, or a practice purpose?

Step 2

Find the verb

ITIL questions often hide the answer in verbs: move, authorize, restore, understand needs, make available.

Step 3

Reject the neighbor

The wrong option is usually a nearby concept: release vs deployment, event vs incident, utility vs warranty, engage vs design and transition.

High-yield trap router

If it says “move components”

Think deployment management, not release management.

If it says “make available”

Think release management, not deployment management.

If it says “stakeholder needs”

Think engage, not design and transition.

If it says “quality, cost, time to market”

Think design and transition, not engage.

If it says “does the right thing”

Think utility: fit for purpose.

If it says “available enough”

Think warranty: fit for use.
